How to Run Geo-Grid Heatmap Scans Street-by-Street

Happy Rank Tutorials·⏱ 3 min watch·4 Steps Walkthrough·▶ Watch on YouTube

Configure radial grid sizes, choose the right pin resolution, and track your Google Maps rankings across neighborhoods.

Discover how to initiate 15, 30, 40, or 90-pin geo-grid scans to uncover your true ranking radius on Google Maps and identify competitor strongholds.

1Select Target Business and Core Search Keywords

Go to Rank Tracking > Geo-Grid Heatmaps. Search your business name or select your connected Google location, then add up to 10 target keywords (e.g., 'plumber near me', 'drain cleaning').

💡 Pro Tip: Use comma or press Enter after typing each keyword to add multiple terms in a single scan batch.

2Configure Search Radius & Pin Density

Choose your geographic radius (from 1 km for dense urban centers up to 25 km for suburban service areas) and select pin density (15, 30, 40, 60, or 90 pins).

💡 Pro Tip: A 40-pin grid with 2.5 km radius is recommended as the optimal balance of resolution and speed.

3Run Real-Time Live Google Places Scan

Click 'Start Live Scan' and confirm. Happy Rank's live production engine queries Google Places coordinates in real-time without simulated or fabricated approximations.

💡 Pro Tip: Pins display green (1-3), yellow (4-10), red (11-20), or 20+ so you immediately see where you dominate and where visibility drops.

4Inspect Competitor Rankings on Any Pin

Click any pin on the interactive satellite/map canvas to view the exact Local 3-Pack and top 20 businesses ranking at that exact latitude and longitude coordinate.

💡 Pro Tip: Identify which competitors rank above you at specific pins to benchmark their review counts and categories.
